Relax and Re-Tweet! Get connected to #CFC2011 on Twitter « Welcome ...

The CFC 2011 Conference is just a few days away, and we are incredibly excited about the social media presence throughout the concurrent sessions, plenary sessions, and activities that are part of the event in Vancouver.  The 15 Social Media Squad members will be very actively searching for your input and feedback about your conference experience, so be sure to keep an eye out for them during the events and sessions!

If you will be Tweeting from the conference, it’d be great to be connected!  Here are a few tips on how to easily connect your phone to post Twitter updates during the conference:

  • Tweet using an app - Squad members and conference attendees who have Smartphones and mobile data plans can download apps for their device that will allow them to tweet. Android, iPhone, Windows 7 Phone, and Blackberry users can find these apps in their respective app stores/markets â€" many of them are free, and features vary.  There is no WiFi in the plenary rooms, but using a Smartphone with data capabilities should help. Also, iPhone users can actually “lend” their mobile data plan to their laptops via Wifi, Bluetooth or USB through a feature called “Personal Hotspot” or tethering. Instructions on activating this are available at: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf [pg 24].
  • Tweet from your phone - You can even tweet via text message. In your Twitter settings, go toMobile, and follow the instructions to register your phone. You can text your tweet to 21212 and it’ll show up in your account.
  • Tweet from your Blackberry -   Go to BlackBerry App World, type “Twitter” into the Search box, and download the first Twitter App (or if you like, you can use a different one like UberSocial, etc.). Twitter Apps make Twitter appear better and make them more accessible on your phone.  Also, you can Tweet even without downloading the App by going to the Twitter website (if you have a data plan).
  • Download Twitter instructions to your phone -   Twitter offers instructions and downloads for your phone on their homepage.

Also, the conference hashtag is #CFC2011.  Hope we can be connected soon!

Twitter is a website, owned and operated by Twitter Inc., which offers a social networking and microblogging service, enabling its users to send and read messages called tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on the user's profile page.
