"I'm not opposed 2 dumping him in the sea, I agree no monument 4 a mass murderer, I just don't need the added BS of "according 2 Mulism law." he wrote. "Yes, and to repeat, whenever I've gone 2 the funeral of a Muslim friend in Detroit, we all hop in a chopper & drop the body in Lake Erie."

Added Moore, "OBL was said 2 have $30 mil net worth. But we didn't start profiling rich people. No, we gave them their own fast trak line at the airport!

"OBL was about as true a Muslim as Timothy McVeigh was a Catholic. But no headline ever read "Catholic Blows Up Fed Bldg in Oklahoma City."

"How come no headline ever read "Multi-Millionaire Murders 3,000"? It would have been correct. No, best to focus on OBL being a "Muslim,'" he added.

"As long as he wasn't conducting terror, OBL alive served a purpose. Someone should just fess up: The war industry needs fear to make $$," said Moore.

Moore will discuss his views in a live interviewe on Piers Morgan Tonight Thursday.

Bin Laden was killed Sunday in a mansion in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

Why Twitter Wants TweetDeck – and TweetDeckers – So Badly ...

Rumors swirling this morning about Twitter’s $50 million acquisition of TweetDeck have everyone, er, atwitter.

Fundamentally, Twitter has finally realized that its development partners have continued to innovate while the company’s basic interface â€" Twitter.com â€" is oddly low-frills with frustrating functionality.

TweetDeck and other ‘social media engagement’ tools â€" Seesmic, HootSuite, Spredfast, Engage121, Awareness Networks, SproutSocial, Shoutlet â€" the list goes on, as so many have sprung up in the last few years â€" have gone to the head of the class while Twitter.com has done little more than simply change to ‘new Twitter.’Twitter clients for smartphones are also much more user-friendly and intuitive â€" not surprising.

According to estimates that 5% of all Twitter users use TweetDeck â€" that’s nearly 9 million people â€" TweetDeckers are the elite power users who are not only using a tool to create and manage messages, but also to receive news, interact with their networks, and engage â€" the very promise of social media in the first place.  Twitter has already begun to court â€" and potentially monetizeâ€"this audience, introducing its Promoted Tweets advertising service in TweetDeck columns several months ago.

The move to buy TweetDeck might be seen as defensive â€" warding off Ubermedia, which threw its hat into the ring in February and reportedly offered to buy TweetDeck for $25-$30 million â€" but others might view this as Twitter wanting to finally control its product, brand, audience â€" and ability to make serious money.

Twitter’s turning off of Ubermedia’s access to its API in February of this year made waves, as Ubermedia developed the popular UberTwitter and Twidroyd.

Once acquired, Twitter would be wise to not completely rebrand and repurpose TweetDeck.  Besides using the main service â€" Twitter â€" TweetDeckers also enjoy the ability to distribute and propagate messages to other networks, including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Foursquare.  Whether Twitter would continue to support its competitors is uncertain and remains to be seen.

Finally, wishing to control monetization on Twitter might be perceived as a noteworthy and respectful goal, but competitors lurk, most notably offerings by IZEA Marketing’s Sponsored Tweets and Ad.ly’s celebrity tweet placements.  It is highly unlikely that Twitter will actually acquire agencies or marketing firms that compete directly with its own Promoted Tweets, Trends and Accounts.

The Blog of Burgher Jon » Twitter Amplifies, Accelerates and ...

On Sunday night a group of US Navy Seals killed Osama Bin Laden.  How did you hear about the news?  More people than ever heard it off Twitter.  The top chart above is Twitter’s activity over the course of Sunday evening.  No doubt that Osama’s death caused a massive surge.  If you’re lazy or hasty about coming to conclusions you might assume that this means that Twitter is replacing TV News, Newspapers, Google or whatever else happens to be the doomsday theory of the day.  I think if you look closely though, you’ll find that Twitter has done nothing of the sort.   Twitter helps to amplify, accelerate and augment news; it does not replace it.

Twitter Amplifies news because it gets the word to more people.  The key to the amplification is that Twitter is only 140 characters.  My guess is that few people read that and thought, “good to know, time for bed.”  No, they went to Google or CNN or their TVs to find out more.  The second graph above is Google’s searches for “Bin Laden.”  There are, of course, a number of extraneous data points on there (people who went to Google entirely independently of Twitter), but I think the two charts together show a trend that will lead to the next evolution in the information age.  Namely, that people will follow a trail of news through their social graph and then seek (through Google or elsewhere) a reliable, more comprehensive source of information about the topic.

Twitter Accelerates news because it gets the word out in real-time.  Most of us don’t watch the 24 hour news channels for more then a few minutes per day.  Consequently, we hardly ever hear breaking news as it breaks.  However, when news breaks we probably have a friend (or at least a friend of a friend) who happens to be watching the news.  Since I am watching my Twitter account periodically all day, this means that I get the breaking news fast.

I don’t get ALL of the breaking news fast though, and this is where augmenting comes in.  If the news on Monday night hadn’t been that Osama was dead, the news would have taken a very different track through the social networks.   If it had instead been that some player for Manchester United broke his shoulder, then none of my friends would have tweeted the news and I would have had no idea (which is exactly how I’d like it).  Some kid in Europe who’s a big soccer fan though, he would have found out seconds after it happened because one of his friends would have been watching the game.  The augmenting feature of Twitter isn’t all about filtering though, it also provides bits of the story that typical coverage avoids, but that I want to know.  For example, I thought it was amusing that Obama’s speech interrupted his potential political opponent Donald Trump’s TV show.  One of my friends tweeted that, but I didn’t see it anywhere else in the news and if it weren’t for Twitter I probably never would have known.

All I am saying is that in 10 years none of us will be willing to take in news that’s not amplified, accelerated and augmented by social media.

A revamped UI still looks a little blah despite all the PR hyped up descriptions of being "beautiful" and "far more sexy." They have an odd obsession with Batman references. It’s even embodied in the black, grey and yellow color scheme of the app itself. Maybe all apps should model themselves after super heroes and comic book personalities. I’d love a Rorschach twitter app. Every post would be converted into a wildly conspiratorial claim and the UI would be a constantly morphing mess.

Other features include new gesture support, being able to follow back-and-forth tweets as conversations, and built in support for Deck.ly long posts.

The most notable omission still is the lack of push notification support. Seriously? Words With Friends even has push notification support.

Still Tweedeck 2.0 retains all the organizational benefits previous versions had as well as Facebook integration so everyone can see your tweets.
